Gina S. Asimov is a Russian woman best known as the daughter of Sylvester Asimov—and more importantly, the person who motivated him to join the Annex Project in the first place.
Her upbringing was pretty sheltered. Her mother insisted on sending her to an all-girls school, partly out of protection but mostly because of her father's semi-famous status locally. Even when Gina moved to Moscow for further education, her mother picked schools with the same mindset, which backfired in its own way—most guys there already knew who her dad was and kept their distance anyway.
That changed when she met Alexander Asimov. Despite her father's resistance to the relationship, she fell for him, and they eventually married. Things took a devastating turn when she contracted the A.E. Virus during her pregnancy. The infection began attacking her pancreas and lungs, causing rapid deterioration. While newer medical treatments managed to halt the damage, the prognosis for both her and her unborn child remains grim.
