Iceland is a northern European nation who debuted in the Hetalia film "Ginmaku Hetalia Axis Powers: Paint it, White." He's got short whitish-grey hair and blue eyes—though later official artwork shifted them to violet, while the anime kept them blue.
The character is pretty defined by his relationship with Norway. Iceland considers Norway "the home where his heart truly lies," which ties back to Iceland's actual history as a Norwegian settlement. The two are basically brothers, and the series even had them take a DNA test to confirm they're blood-related. The other Nordics won't let him live it down, constantly pestering him to call Norway "Onii-chan" (Big Brother)—something he's way too embarrassed to actually do.
His personality is described as cold on the outside but genuinely passionate underneath. Creator Hidekaz Himaruya has said Iceland deliberately reaches for English whenever possible because he's self-conscious about how hard Icelandic is to understand and about his accent. It's kind of what makes him one of Europe's odder nations. He's also been dealing with a cold and money troubles lately, and Russia has oddly been helping him out—which has made Iceland pretty suspicious of the guy's motives.
Iceland's usually accompanied by a puffin named Mr. Puffin, who sports a pink bowtie and has a black belly (in official art, though the anime made it white). The puffin talks and acts like an Italian mobster.
Denmark and Finland just call him "Ice."
Himaruya hasn't settled on an official human name, but has floated options like Egill, Eirikur, Emil, Sigurður, and Steilsson.
