Kenji is Usagi Tsukino's father and, like his wife Ikuko, has no idea that his daughter is actually Sailor Moon. He's your standard Japanese salaryman type—well-meaning but pretty oblivious to what's really going on around him. He works as a magazine reporter and eventually moves up to editor-in-chief.
He and Ikuko are clearly affectionate with each other, which is nice to see. Early in the series, he freaks out whenever he catches Usagi hanging around Mamoru Chiba, which is peak overprotective dad energy.
What's interesting is that in the manga, Kenji actually picks up on some of the connections between Sailor Moon and Usagi that other family members miss. He notices a shift in his daughter's maturity once she becomes aware of her true identity as Princess Serenity, and he's struck by how serene her beauty becomes at certain moments. He doesn't put the pieces together exactly, but there's something there—a father's intuition, maybe, even if he can't quite name it.
