Sakuta Azusagawa is the main protagonist of the Seishun Buta Yarou series. He's fundamentally a good person—selfless, kind, and genuinely helpful—but he hides it behind constant sarcasm and snark. His personality mirrors Mai's pretty closely: both are sharp-witted with a sarcastic edge, but genuinely caring and quick to do the right thing.
What makes Sakuta stand out is his deadpan delivery. No matter what he's actually feeling, his face and tone stay completely flat. He'll say whatever's on his mind with perfect calm, which is partly a result of his experience with Adolescence Syndrome leaving him socially withdrawn and detached.
He claims he doesn't care what people think or whether he fits in at school, though he'll admit that rumors about him can sting. Still, his actual philosophy is pretty straightforward: he doesn't need the whole world to like him, just one person to need him. That's enough. He has no problem going against social expectations if it's the right call.
He's also pretty blunt about his perverted side and will crack lewd jokes around the girls he knows without hesitation. These are clearly just jokes though—there's no real malice behind them.
