Botanmaru is a young tengu living on Kurama Mountain who basically hero-worships Shinjirou. When Nanami first meets him, he's desperately searching for Shinjirou, hoping to bring him back and settle the chaos that's broken out since Soujoubou got sick and everyone started fighting over who'd take over next. He immediately takes a shine to Nanami after she compliments him on his bravery, and he ends up sticking around her pretty regularly after that. Fans often note that his devotion to Shinjirou and his quick attachment to Nanami make him one of the more endearing younger characters in the series.
