Nene's an optimist at heart, and despite her ninja background, she genuinely believes in Hideyoshi's vision of a unified, peaceful country. She sees everyone around her—friends and enemies alike—as part of her extended family. As the self-appointed "mother" of this makeshift household, she nurtures those closest to her while having no problem disciplining anyone she thinks needs it. After a tough battle, she'll cook a big meal to bring everyone together, and she's not shy about leveraging her ninja skills (her "Nene ninpo") to reinforce her lectures. To outsiders, though, she can come across as overbearing, and nobody wants to be around when she's actually angry.
Her relationship with Hideyoshi is the real center of her world—they're devoted to each other, and she calls him "Darling." She sees herself as the grounded, responsible one of the pair, which is partly why she feels the need to keep him in line. And he definitely needs it: Nene absolutely despises his wandering eye. The moment she suspects him with a mistress, she's not above beating him senseless, and he knows it. She walks a line between doting on him and keeping him honest.
