Gatō made his first appearance in the manga at Chapter 10 and showed up in the anime by Episode 6 of Naruto.
On the surface, Gatō was a successful shipping magnate who built the Gatō Company into a major enterprise. Behind closed doors, though, he ran a massive drug trafficking operation and controlled an extensive smuggling network. His real ambition was far bigger than business—he wanted to seize control of the entire Land of Waves, using his wealth and criminal connections to consolidate power in the region.
