Karen is a half-British, half-Japanese girl who knew Alice back in England. When Alice moved to Japan, Karen followed and enrolled in Shinobu's school.
She's basically a ball of energy—even more so than Youko, which is saying something. Karen's incredibly outgoing and wears her emotions right on her sleeve. She's the type to befriend everyone in her class almost immediately; people actually fight over who gets to share their lunch with her if she forgets hers. Weirdly, she never seems to gain weight no matter how much she eats.
Karen's pretty vocal about her feelings for Shinobu, constantly saying she "really really really loves" her (大大大好き!). Alice definitely notices and gets a little jealous about it sometimes. She also calls Aya "Ayaya"—a nickname that stuck after a silly misunderstanding when they first met.
