Kaede's a high school sophomore who got pulled into the mountaineering circle after meeting Aoi at a local gear shop—she was looking for sleeping bag advice and ended up making a friend instead. Aoi describes her as tall, well-dressed, and cool, though that's mostly what Kaede looks like when she's actually trying. At home or just hanging around, she's usually in a sports bra and shorts, and honestly doesn't care much about fashion or appearance in general. Both Aoi and their friend Yuuka have told her she's "wasting a good figure" by not putting in any effort, but it hasn't really stuck.
Her real passion is mountain climbing, something she used to do solo before Aoi came along. She funds her hobby and gear through part-time work, since mountaineering doesn't come cheap. Pretty much nothing else holds her interest—she's lazy by nature and terrible at cooking.
