Ge Nie started out as an assassin for Qin, but eventually left the empire to raise his friend's son, Jing Tianming—a choice that marked a real shift in his life. He trained at the legendary Gui Gu school alongside Wei Zhuang, who became his longtime rival.
He's best known for his incredible swordsmanship, particularly his signature "Hundred Steps Flying Sword" technique, which earned him the title "Sword Saint" among the martial world. The guy is genuinely formidable—he once took down 300 of Qin's elite soldiers and walked away with barely a scratch.
Personality-wise, he doesn't show much. He's reserved, rarely smiles, and keeps his emotions close. But with Tianming, he's protective in a way that matters. Tianming clearly idolizes him and sees him as a role model. What's interesting about Ge Nie is how seriously he takes the philosophy behind strength. He's constantly telling Tianming that real martial heroes don't fight to prove anything—they fight to protect people weaker than themselves. It's less about ego, more about duty.
