Akimi was Kyosuke's classmate in middle school, though she rarely showed up. Kyosuke eventually talked her into attending school regularly, and he even forged her parents' permission slip to sneak her onto a class field trip. Things went wrong when Akimi fell from a tree in an off-limits area Kyosuke had brought her to, leaving her injured. Her parents pulled her out and transferred her to a different school, cutting off contact between them entirely—a loss that fundamentally changed who Kyosuke became.
Three years later, Akimi tracked him down and confessed her feelings. He turned her down.
