Illuso is a minor antagonist in Part V: Vento Aureo and a member of La Squadra di Esecuzione. He confronts Buccellati's Gang during their time in Rome.
Despite his cocky attitude, Illuso backs it up—he's genuinely one of the strongest members of his organization and nearly took out three of the protagonists without breaking a sweat. What ultimately did him in was underestimating Giorno's Stand and what it could do against him.
His Stand, Man in the Mirror, doesn't look impressive on paper. The stats are pretty mediocre across the board (C in Destructive Power, D in Durability), but the ability more than makes up for it. Man in the Mirror lets Illuso access the "Mirror World"—basically a dead zone with zero life in it, except for Illuso himself when he's there or anyone he drags in with him.
Illuso enters and exits the Mirror World through any reflective surface, and the more mirrors get broken around him, the better—more angles mean more escape routes. When he's targeting someone to pull in, they can see him reflected in the mirror, but nobody else can. Once he's got them in the Mirror World, their possessions turn into spiritual energy, leaving them completely defenseless. Stands can be dragged in too, but that leaves the Stand user stranded in the real world with no protection.
The Mirror World mirrors damage done in the real world—if a wall gets smashed outside, the same wall breaks inside. If Illuso dies, the whole ability shuts down.
Man in the Mirror is named after the Michael Jackson song.
