Shinbei's the easygoing son of a wealthy merchant who hit it off immediately with Rantarou and Kirimaru when they all started at Ninjutsu Academy together. He's genuinely kind and friendly, the type of guy people naturally gravitate toward.
He's not the quickest thinker around, and his love of food shows—he's on the heavier side as a result. But what he lacks in speed he makes up for in raw strength. His real standout ability is his sense of smell, which is honestly sharper than a dog's and almost always points him toward whatever's cooking. His perpetually runny nose is basically his signature look, and there's an oddly practical side to it: his snot is weirdly sticky, so he's actually weaponized it in fights. It's as weird as it sounds, but it works.
