Hakase is an 8-year-old child prodigy whose intelligence far outpaces her maturity. Despite being brilliant enough to have apparently already graduated, she doesn't attend school and instead spends her days tinkering in her house—mostly upgrading Nano, the android she built herself. She's obsessed with sharks and snacks, and constantly adds bizarre new functions to Nano without telling her: a roll cake dispenser arm, and who knows what else. Nano usually doesn't find out about these modifications until they suddenly activate.
One of Hakase's quirks is her absolute refusal to remove the wind-up key sticking out of Nano's back, insisting it's adorable even though Nano begs her to take it off regularly. Her family is a complete mystery—no one really knows anything about them—though she may be distantly related to the Principal of Tokisadame Highschool since they share a last name. She lives with Nano and Sakamoto, and that seems to be her whole world.
