Karnatia is one of the reincarnated students, though she had a pretty major life change in the process. In her previous life, she was a boy named Kanata Ooshima, but she's now been reborn as a girl and the daughter of Duke Anabald—a significant upgrade in the looks department, by most accounts.
She and Shun are basically on the same intellectual level, which puts her solidly in prodigy territory, and they've been close friends since their first lives. What's interesting about her personality is the contrast: she normally speaks with refined, elegant manners fitting her noble status, but the moment she's around someone else who remembers being reincarnated, she drops that act and talks like the guy she used to be. It's a pretty clear sign of how much she compartmentalizes between her new life and her old one.
