The ace pitcher and team captain of Kamihoshi's baseball team, Yugami is also the first person Chihiro meets after transferring in. He's the type who does everything his own way—doesn't follow the crowd, doesn't care what people expect. Teammates, classmates, pretty much everyone writes him off as a troublemaker and weirdo, which keeps him isolated from his peers. But he doesn't seem bothered by it.
