Glenn took over as substitute teacher for Sistine and Rumia's class when their previous instructor retired. What most of his students don't realize is that he's got a pretty wild background—he was once a legendary assassin known as "The Fool," infamous for his ability to kill mages. He's also the reason Rumia survived whatever happened to her before the series began.
His whole trajectory changed after losing his family in an accident. Celica Arfonia took him in and essentially became his family, introducing him to magic and teaching him everything she knew. It stuck with him; magic became his passion, even though he's never been naturally gifted at mana sensing or shortening incantations. Despite that weakness, he got into Alzano Imperial Magic Academy at eleven and finished his studies by fifteen. Now he works for the Imperial Court Magicians while teaching, which honestly makes him a pretty unconventional educator—though his students might find that out eventually.
