Kakeru is one of Uta's oldest friends—they've known each other since childhood. He's had a crush on her for a while, though he's weighed down by guilt over bullying her when they were kids. He's been hoping she'll let the past go so he can finally confess his feelings. He actually does confess in Onegai My Melody Kurukuru Shuffle, though his romantic life gets pretty messy before that point—his first kiss gets stolen by Hiiragi by accident, his second by Jun, and he gets another one from Baku. Eventually, in Onegai My Melody Sukkiri, he and Uta officially become a couple.
