Midare Toushirou is one of the Awataguchi blades, best known for his feminine appearance and playful, teasing personality. He's got this anxious streak that comes through pretty clearly—when he reunites with his former master Hosokawa Katsumoto, he has something of a wake-up call about human nature. Watching Katsumoto, Midare comes to terms with the fact that humans are fundamentally flawed, which actually shakes him up more than you'd expect. Worried that his current master, the Saniwa, might follow the same path toward corruption or ruin, Midare decides to come back and try to be better himself. It's a pretty sincere character beat under all the teasing.
