A purple platypus with an unusual appetite—Gomira's whole thing is eating garbage. The weirder part? It actually makes him grow. Each time he chows down on trash, he gets bigger, which is pretty much his defining gimmick.
He first showed up in the Anpanman episode "Anpanman & Gomira" back in September 1989, and fans took to the character enough that he kept coming back. He's become a recurring presence throughout the anime, recognizable enough that most people familiar with the show know exactly who you're talking about when you mention the trash-eating purple platypus.
