Wallace is an American Chosen Child who got his start with two Digimon partners as a kid: Gummymon and Chocomon. Things took a dark turn when he and Chocomon got separated—and years later, the now-corrupted Chocomon ended up kidnapping the six original Japanese Chosen Children. That's when Wallace crossed paths with Daisuke and his group, who were desperately searching for the missing kids.
Daisuke wasn't exactly thrilled about Wallace at first, but once he realized Wallace was struggling with the fact that he couldn't bring himself to fight his own corrupted partner, things shifted. Daisuke finally got it.
