Keiji's the adopted nephew of Maeda Toshiie and Matsu, and he's basically the definition of a free spirit. He loves a good festival and genuinely enjoys messing with Toshiie whenever he gets the chance. He clearly cares about his adoptive family despite the tension between them—they don't exactly approve of how he lives his life, and that friction bothers him more than he lets on.
He travels around with Yumekichi, a small monkey that's pretty much always at his side. His weapon of choice is this absurdly oversized nodachi that shouldn't really work the way it does. The thing is massive, but he can swing it one-handed without breaking a sweat. What's weird is how he handles the sheath—he literally throws it up in the air and times it perfectly so it comes down whenever he needs to draw the blade. It's the kind of impractical fighting style that somehow works for him.
