Fayt Leingod is the protagonist of Star Ocean 3, introduced as an ordinary college student from Earth who'd rather be anywhere else—literally. His father, Robert Leingod, is a major figure in symbological genetics, a field controversial enough that most of his research happens on Moonbase, the orbital colony. Fayt inherited his father's brains but not his work ethic; he's the type to procrastinate on college assignments and use any vacation as an excuse to bail on responsibilities. When he ends up on Hyda IV, a resort planet, he spends most of his time hooked on combat simulation games instead of actually studying.
