He and his best friend Denshichi have a habit of looking down on the lower-performing students from Class 1-Ha, though their arrogance doesn't always translate to real-world success—the two frequently stumble when they actually have to apply what they know outside the classroom.
There's some inconsistency with how he was introduced: he first showed up in the anime as a second-year named Shuusaimaru, but was later rewritten as a first-year with his current name, and that's stuck since.
