Hikage was a Pro Hero and the fourth wielder of One For All. His own Quirk, Danger Sense, let him detect threats in his immediate vicinity—according to Izuku, it hits like a stabbing sensation in the head once activated. The constant vigilance it demanded apparently made him prefer solitude, which Daigoro Banjo later described as pretty weird.
Hikage inherited One For All at twenty-two, fully aware he couldn't take down All For One alone. Rather than attempt the impossible, he spent most of his life on the run, training and strengthening the Quirk so it'd be more formidable by the time he passed it on. It was a long game: eighteen years in, his body started breaking down under the accumulated weight of multiple Quirks stacked together. Recognizing he was running out of time, he entrusted One For All to Daigoro before dying of old age shortly after.
