An S-rank adventurer who made the call to tell his team to get out when monsters attacked deep in a dungeon—he stayed behind to buy them time. Ten years pass. He emerges from that cave younger than when he went in, having somehow cleared every monster inside.
When he gets back to civilization, he finds out he's become a legend. There's literally a statue of him in the royal capital now, and people have been calling him a hero all this time.
Reuniting with his old friends hits different when you've been gone a decade. Instead of picking up where he left off at S-rank, he decides to start completely fresh as an F-rank adventurer under the new name Lock. Low-key rebrand.
He ends up running with two other F-rankers: Ario, who specializes in fireball magic, and Genie, an archer. They make an odd team, but it works. Along the way, he also connects with Shia, a B-rank adventurer who becomes part of his circle.
