Carbink is a small, gray Rock-type Pokémon with a body shaped like a cone and studded with light blue crystals of various sizes. It has a distinctive fluffy white collar around its tiny head, which it uses to polish gems belonging to other Carbink. Bright blue eyes, a pointed crystal crown, and flat diamond-shaped ears complete its appearance. It ties with Minior and Dwebble as the shortest Rock-type Pokémon.
Born deep underground through intense heat and pressure, Carbink can sleep for millions of years after hatching. When threatened, it fires high-energy beams from the crystal on its head—a handy defense since Sableye and Gabite actively hunt it. In extremely rare cases, Carbink undergoes a mysterious transformation, though details on this are sparse.
According to legend, massive colonies of Carbink live far beneath the surface, organized around a queen in an underground jeweled kingdom. In reality, many Carbink serve Diancie, the princess of the Diamond Domain. Four of these loyal servants have been documented: Merrick, Bort, Allotrope, and Dace.
