Clark first shows up after Heero abandons Wing Zero, and he's immediately obsessed with the ZERO System. While Tsubarov ordered him to destroy the Gundam and cover their tracks, Clark saw something different—he believed the System was their best shot at winning the war and making mobile dolls irrelevant. So he went rogue, captured Heero, Quatre, and the Gundam scientists, and forced them to test out the System firsthand. The results were clear: it fought better than any mobile doll. But when Heero took the controls, things went sideways fast. He lost it completely, nearly killing everyone in sight before the Gundam was abandoned.
Clark didn't give up though. He kept running experiments and gathering data on the System, though prolonged use left him struggling with its complexity. When word got out that he'd been using tons of mobile dolls for testing, Tsubarov sent soldiers to track him down.
Around the same time, Clark hunted down Gundam pilot Duo Maxwell and forced him to fight mobile dolls so he could gather cleaner combat data. The ZERO System got in Duo's head fast—he was drowning in it when Clark pulled him from the cockpit just as OZ soldiers arrived to retrieve him and destroy Wing Zero. Clark jumped into the Gundam himself, tore through the soldiers and their mobile dolls with ease, but the System started eating away at him. He became addicted to the destruction, craving more and more. Duo, now piloting Deathscythe Hell, stopped him from annihilating a nearby colony and ultimately killed him in their final confrontation.
