Dr. Ichigaki is a demon scientist known for his ruthless approach to human experimentation. He orchestrated a scheme to transform three martial arts students into his personal minions: he poisoned their master, then appeared as a savior offering a cure in exchange for their participation in his experiments. The trio became what fans refer to as his Makai minions (M1, M2, and M3), forced to compete in a tournament under his control.
When his team inevitably lost, Ichigaki revealed his trump card—a serum called "Instant Gene Therapy" that would transform him into a monstrous form. The power boost was short-lived, though. Yusuke defeated him almost immediately after the transformation, seemingly ending the threat. However, the manga later confirms that Ichigaki survived the encounter.
