Ako Atarashi
Ako is a first-year at Achiga Girls' Academy and one of the main characters in the Saki spin-off Achiga-hen episode of side-A. She's known for being skilled at mahjong from way back—she was actually the third-best player on Achiga's elementary school mahjong club before it fell apart.
When the club disbanded, Ako made the tough choice to transfer to a different middle school just to keep playing competitively. She was even aiming to get into Bansei High School, which has a serious mahjong reputation. But when her old friend Shizuno decided to revive the club at Achiga, Ako came back too. She's childhood friends with both Shizuno and Nodoka Haramura, which probably made the decision easier.
