Yuuichi Aizawa is the main protagonist of Kanon. He's friendly and outgoing, though he's still got a lot to learn about being considerate toward women—he teases the girls around him constantly, sometimes pretty harshly depending on who it is. That said, he's got a genuinely caring side to him. Shiori Misaka even notes that he reminds her of an older brother.
He used to spend time in the city where the story takes place, but those memories vanished. They come back gradually as he reconnects with people from his past. He's also openly afraid of heights, which he's mentioned himself.
As the story progresses, Yuuichi starts picking up on the strange supernatural stuff happening around the city—though it takes him a while to really clue in. When things get weird and dangerous, he steps up for the girls he's gotten close to. He's just an ordinary guy, but he does whatever he can to help them out and keep them safe, even if it means going out on a limb.
