Four Murasame lost everything after the One Year War. Orphaned and alone, she was taken in by the Murasame Research Lab—though "taken in" is generous. The Federation saw potential in her as a test subject, systematically erasing her memories and rebuilding her as an artificial New Type. They didn't even give her a real name, just the number "Four." Her caretaker, a nurse named Namika Coner, manipulated her into believing that working for the Titans and fighting the AEUG was the only path to recovering who she'd been.
Everything changed when Karaba's ship the Audhumla docked at New Hong Kong for resupply. There she met Kamille Bidan, an AEUG pilot, and something clicked. Unlike everyone else who saw her as a tool or a girl with a missing past, Kamille treated her like an actual person. It was probably the first time anyone had done that.
When Four learned the truth—that Kamille was the enemy—she snapped. Her desperation to reclaim her memories and become whole overrode everything else. She took the Psyco Gundam into battle against both him and the city itself. Kamille tried reasoning with her, tried getting her to defect to the AEUG, but she was past listening. The fight left the Psyco Gundam in ruins, and Four seemingly died in the explosion, though not before helping Kamille escape to safety.
Except she didn't die. The Titans recovered both her and the damaged mobile suit, bringing them to their African base at Mount Kilimanjaro. They repaired the Psyco Gundam, installed an experimental psyco-control chair to amplify her abilities, and put her through another round of brutal medical experiments. In the process, they nearly succeeded in making her forget Kamille entirely.
By early November 0087, the AEUG and Karaba mounted a major assault on Kilimanjaro. Amuro Ray led the charge, with Kamille and Quattro providing support. That's when Kamille discovered Four was still alive. He fought his way into the base to reach her, and when she saw him, she finally remembered. But the damage ran deep—the torture, the forced modifications, her fractured mind—left her unstable and struggling to hold herself together.
