Natsume grew up after losing both her father and her right arm in a Gadoll attack—a traumatic event that shaped her childhood. Despite this, she held onto a dream of joining the Kanochikara and becoming a warrior to fight back against the creatures that destroyed her family. Life had other plans, though. Instead of the combat career she imagined, she ended up working as an armor repairer under Kaburagi.
Her actual personality is the opposite of what her circumstances might suggest. She's cheerful and energetic, with a reckless streak that keeps things interesting around her. She doesn't seem to let her circumstances weigh her down, at least not outwardly.
