Tatsuya's been with Penal Hero Unit 9004 longer than anyone else, and honestly, nobody knows much about him. There's no official record of what he did to end up here, which has led to all sorts of speculation over the years. What everyone does know is that he's absurdly strong—the kind of strength that makes people take notice.
He's hard to miss. The guy's got a hunched back, a vacant stare most of the time, and he wears this rusty helmet that apparently keeps his skull intact. The helmet's seen better days, but it does its job. When you talk to him or give him orders, all you get are groans—low, guttural sounds that don't really have a clear meaning. Though if you listen closely enough, sometimes you can pick out something that might be laughter or maybe him getting cocky about something.
The theory among people who've worked with him is that spending so much time getting killed and revived in the penal unit has basically worn away whatever made him him. His sense of self is shot, his ability to think clearly is gone, and speech is out of the question. Now he just reacts with groans, and that's about it. Whether there's anything left in there or not, it's impossible to say.
