Sage Date (伊達征士 Date Seiji) is the most level-headed and distant member of the Ronin Warriors. He's best known for his quiet maturity and tendency to keep others at arm's length—a trait that comes into sharp focus during the CD drama Korinden, when he openly wrestles with whether being a Ronin Warrior is even what he wants.
Sage comes from a distinctly traditional Japanese family with an interesting power dynamic: the women call the shots. His household includes his father (a police officer), mother, grandparents, and two sisters—Yayoi and younger sister Satsuki. Satsuki's the odd one out; she's basically the most normal of the bunch and doesn't bother with formal Japanese like the rest of them do.
In combat, Sage wears the Halo armor (Korin in the original Japanese), which channels his Virtue of Chi—Wisdom. His element is light, and he fights with a nodachi, a traditional Japanese broadsword. His signature attack, the Thunderbolt Cut (Rai Ko Zan), involves channeling massive energy into his blade; despite the name suggesting a slash, he'll throw it as a thrust or even unleash it as a burst of energy beams.
There's a fun bit of trivia: Sage was vice-president of his high school's Kendo club in ninth grade, then president in tenth. He missed the championship tournament that year because of his fight with Talpa in spring, which let a rival named Shingo take the title. Shingo actually wrote Sage a letter afterward saying he didn't look bad with both eyes visible and suggesting he get a haircut. Rowen and Kento read that first part, grabbed scissors, and chased him around—they apparently missed the part where Shingo speculated that Sage's intimidating appearance might've been the real reason he kept winning.
Like Ryo, the Date name references the real samurai Date Masamune. Sage is voiced by Michael Donovan in the English dub.
