Arin is a mysteriously stoic girl who claims Arata as her husband—despite no official marriage ever being arranged. She bears a striking resemblance to Hijiri, Arata's cousin and childhood friend, though Arin rarely lets emotion show and doesn't care much what people think of her. Their first meeting set the tone for their relationship: she was casually bathing in the men's bath because she preferred the quiet (most students are female, since women tend to have better magical aptitude), and when Arata walked in, she simply acted like nothing was out of place.
Despite her emotional distance, Arin is oddly perceptive about how others feel. She has almost no memories before age 8—just a void she gradually became aware of, leading her to cry, wander, and eventually get discovered by the headmaster, who brought her to the academy. She's been there ever since.
Arin gets visibly jealous of anyone flirting with Arata, though she's explicitly stated she doesn't mind the Trinity Seven since they're all friends. Over time, she's thawed out noticeably—smiling and blushing around him—which the Trinity Seven members have definitely picked up on and openly prefer.
Her magic is spell-based, channeled through chaotic rune, a branch tied to the power of gods. She activates spells by writing Norse runes in the air, and her magic is strong enough to overpower Arata's demon lord power when sufficiently enhanced. Her magic synergizes exceptionally well with Yui's arc symphony.
