Tsugumi is a professional hitwoman trained by Claude of the Beehive Gangsters. She's best known for initially showing up at Chitoge's school disguised as a male transfer student, supposedly there to protect Chitoge from Raku—whom Tsugumi was convinced had pressured her into their relationship.
The reality's a bit more layered. Tsugumi and Chitoge go way back as childhood friends, and Tsugumi's been dead set on fulfilling an old promise to become strong enough to protect her. But once Raku actually starts treating her decently, she finds herself catching feelings for him, even if she'd rather die than admit it openly. Her stubbornness and embarrassment about the whole thing make it a running joke.
In the assassin world, she operated under the code name "Black Tiger" while in America, where she had a notable rivalry with an operative called "White Fang." Despite her extracurricular activities in organized crime, she's genuinely sharp academically—usually ranking right behind Chitoge on their school exams.
