Youko attends a human school on one strict condition: nobody can know what she is. That secret lasted about as long as you'd expect. Kuromine Asahi happened to walk in on her in an empty classroom while she was unfolding her wings—and he'd specifically gone there to confess his feelings to her. So that went well.
Being half-vampire comes with the obvious perks and drawbacks. She's got wings and fangs, which sounds cool until you realize she has to hide both at school. The wings aren't a problem—she folds them away easily enough. Her canines, though? Those are basically her kryptonite socially. She's constantly paranoid about showing her teeth, which makes smiling around classmates an actual ordeal.
Sunlight is another issue. Unlike the dramatic vampire lore where you burst into flames, Youko just tans at hyper-speed. It's inconvenient and weird rather than instantly fatal, but still something she'd rather avoid.
