Weapon: Swords and Axes
Sub-Weapon: Gloves
Yuri grew up in Zaphias's Lower Quarter alongside Flynn, and by all accounts they were inseparable—best friends who shared everything, including the first sword they bought together. That working-class upbringing stuck with him. He developed a real distrust of the empire's nobility and consistently sided with commoners over the aristocracy throughout his life.
He spent some time in the imperial knights' Niren Corps, the same unit as Flynn, though the job never really suited him. After just a few months, Yuri bailed—he couldn't handle the corruption. During his short tenure, he butted heads regularly with Flynn, Hisca Aiheap, and even his captain Niren Fedrock, despite respecting Niren's actual principles. Those months did get him outside the capital more than he'd typically manage otherwise.
The turning point came during a mission in the movie. After his unit investigated a fortress generating massive amounts of aer and managed to shut down the device, the whole place collapsed. Niren didn't make it out. In the chaos, Yuri acquired Repede, Niren's dog (technically Lambert's son), and killed Garista Luodur with a blastia Niren had given him before dying. After that, Yuri left the knights for good, walking away in the black clothes he'd become known for.
What defines Yuri most is his willingness to act. He's not one to wait for the system to handle things—he'll take the law into his own hands if that's what justice requires. He's thought about where that puts him, though. He knows full well he might be becoming like the people he despises most, but he's accepted that trade-off.
In combat, he fights with both swords and axes, though axes tend to slow him down.
