Yumiko Anekawa was a waitress at Familia Café Terrace under Masahiro Kasukabe before becoming a well-known actress during the Shōwa era. She's the grandmother of Riho Tsukishima.
When Sachiko Matsushima showed up to apply as a cook in 1961, she supposedly mistook Yumiko for a doll because of her cute face—though Sachiko nearly backed out over it. They ended up working together from that point on.
Things fell apart after Masahiro punched Shigehisa Fuwa at an inn, having heard from Youko Chihaya that Sachiko was with him. Sachiko had been tricked into an agreement where Fuwa promised to convince his father to kill a plan to demolish Familia in exchange for becoming his woman. The night after, the café caught fire. Katsuyo Tatsuta tried to salvage the uniforms and got trapped inside, but Masahiro saved her—at the cost of his right arm. They had no choice but to close, and two months later everyone parted ways. They promised to reunite someday, but it never happened.
Yumiko went on to become a famous actress. She had a son, Kazuyuki Tsukishima, who married another actress (though she retired). Their daughter, Riho, inherited the acting bug and weirdly enough ended up working at Familia too.
About three years before the present day, Yumiko ran into Sachiko again after decades apart. During their chat, she learned the full story of how Fuwa had deceived her—Sachiko admitted she hadn't bothered reading the contract. Even though Takao Ono's money helped her pay off the debts, Yumiko still worries about what Fuwa might do to Hayato Kasukabe after she's gone.
She eventually visits her daughter-in-law after successful surgery and gets a mild scolding from her son for not giving him a heads-up. She meets Hayato for the first time and, like the other grandmothers, notes how much he resembles his grandfather. During their talk, her protective instinct kicks in—she knows how dangerous Fuwa is and warns Hayato that his late grandmother would've been upset with him. She tells him to just lay low and endure since Masahiro was old when he faced all this. But Hayato won't back down; he swears he'll protect what matters to him.
When Hayato asks if something serious happened that forced Masahiro to close Familia—like a major hand injury—Yumiko opens up and tells him about their past. She ends with a warning: he has no idea how terrible Fuwa really is.
