Dr. Anna runs a small clinic where Pokémon help treat human patients—a pretty unique setup. She works with her assistant Keiko, and one of her most useful team members is Mimi, her Zubat, who doubles as a living X-ray machine to diagnose injuries.
When Ash's group rolled through, Brock was so impressed with Mimi that he asked if his own Zubat could volunteer at the clinic. Dr. Anna said yes, and things seemed to be working out. But then Team Rocket showed up and ruined everything. During the battle with them, Brock's Zubat evolved into Golbat—which sounds great, except Golbat's Supersonic attack turned out to be way too powerful. It wrecked Dr. Anna's diagnostic machine and left her unable to keep Brock on staff. He ended up having to leave with Ash and Misty, adding another disappointment to what was already becoming a rough pattern for him.
Dr. Anna appeared in the episode "Hassle In The Castle" and also showed up in Ash & Pikachu.
