Kuyou is a humanoid interface created by the Canopy Domain—a rival faction to the Integrated Data Thought Entity that produced Yuki Nagato. She's got extremely long hair and a pretty face, but most people never seem to notice her, likely because she actively manipulates data to stay under the radar. She barely talks. Ever.
What she's actually doing on Earth is anybody's guess, though it's clear her creators are keeping tabs on Haruhi, Kyon, and everyone in their orbit. Whenever Kuyou crosses paths with Yuki's faction, things get tense fast—there's real hostility simmering beneath the surface.
Kyon finds her pretty crude as an interface. She struggles with basic communication, and when she does speak, it often comes across as gibberish. She doesn't seem to have much of a sense of self either. The one time she actually held what could generously be called a "conversation" with Kyon, she told him he had pretty eyes—which, coming from her, felt less like a compliment and more like she was just stating facts the way a malfunctioning database might.
