Yusuke wants to keep her out of his spirit detective work, but between Hiei dropping by and various catastrophes, that plan falls apart fast. After things calm down, Keiko demands answers from Botan, who basically gives her a ridiculously implausible cover story instead—which Keiko somehow buys. She gets the full truth during the Dark Tournament when she shows up with Botan and Shizuru (Kuwabara's sister), and after that, she's all in. From the Sensui arc onward, she's there for emotional support, sticking with the group through everything.
