Genesect is a bipedal insectoid Pokémon with a sleek metal body and a distinctive saucer-shaped head. Its mostly purple frame is marked with gray accents—including circles on its shoulders and a band around its midsection. It has two glowing red eyes and thin, segmented arms that end in pointed claws capable of spinning sticky string. Its legs are equally distinctive, each ending in a large upward-curving claw.
The Pokémon has a wild origin story. Team Plasma revived it from a fossil and heavily modified it with technology, hoping to create the ultimate Pokémon. N shut down the project and closed the P2 Laboratory because he believed Pokémon were already perfect as nature intended and shouldn't be altered by science. But Scientist Dudley wasn't happy about that—he felt his talent was being denied—so he secretly continued the work and reconstructed Genesect himself, installing the powerful cannon on its back.
Genesect's real party trick is that it can fold up its limbs, connect its head to the cannon, and transform into a flying saucer shape for high-speed flight. Beyond that, it has four alternate forms determined by which Drive it's holding: Shock Drive, Burn Drive, Chill Drive, or Douse Drive. The form changes how its signature move, Techno Blast, operates—it's the only Pokémon that can learn it, and the attack's type shifts depending on the Drive equipped.
Interestingly, Genesect was already feared as a supreme hunter long before Team Plasma got their hands on it. There's also an old rumor that one can be found in Glittering Cave near Ambrette Town.
