A close friend of Sasaki's, he doesn't get a ton of screen time in the story, but he's surprisingly clutch when it matters. His real strength is setting up offside traps—the kind that bail out the team when dangerous strikers are bearing down. Kakegawa has definitely benefited from his knack for reading the offside line at exactly the right moment. That innocent-looking face hides some solid defensive instincts.
The problem is he sometimes tries to do too much on his own. When he takes on opposing dribblers solo, more experienced players tend to strip the ball away and hit Kakegawa on the counter. So while he's got solid fundamentals, he still needs to learn when to trust his teammates.
