A former nobleman who shows up in chapter 2, he kidnaps Shirayuki on the mountain with the plan to make money off her distinctive red hair. He's broke and desperate—stripped of his rank and status after losing his fortune—so he's willing to do whatever it takes to survive.
Later, he tries to get an audience with Prince Zen, but that goes about as well as you'd expect. Zen isn't having it; he holds a serious grudge over the kidnapping and makes it clear he doesn't trust the guy one bit. The prince sees him coming from a mile away and suspects he's up to something.
Still, Mihaya does prove useful at one point. He tips off the group about a "pretty boy" sniffing around and possibly planning his own move on Shirayuki. When she heads to Tanburn, he actually helps with the search effort.
