He comes from a ninja family with serious historical roots—his ancestors served a castle that was lost in battle about 70 years back. He learned ninjutsu the old-school way, training under his great-grandfather before officially enrolling at the academy as a fourth year student.
The guy's basically always excited about everything. He laughs easily and genuinely, even at jokes that are absolutely terrible. This actually makes him one of the rare people who finds Andou's notoriously bad puns and humor genuinely funny, which probably says something about his optimistic nature.
