Toru is best known as the perpetually enthusiastic assistant to the Takanashi family matriarch—a job that basically amounts to babysitting the kids while their mom's swamped with work. He's also Kazue's ex-husband, though that doesn't seem to have made things awkward around the house.
The guy's a self-proclaimed masochist and genuinely doesn't care who knows it. He'll casually announce his preferences in public and actively ask people to rough him up, which honestly says everything you need to know about his personality. His actual responsibilities include keeping tabs on the Takanashi siblings and reporting back to their busy mother about how everyone's doing. It's a pretty thankless gig, but he seems weirdly content with it.
