Oboro started out as an impulsive, somewhat self-centered bandit chief running a fort near Yamayura. He's fiercely protective of his younger sister Yuzuha, and would regularly bring in Tusukuru to check on her health. When Hakuoro launched the country's rebellion, Oboro signed on immediately and pledged his loyalty for life—partly out of a desire for revenge on Tusukuru's behalf. He considers Hakuoro his brother from that point forward. His two subordinates, Dorii and Guraa, stick with him through everything, though the exact nature of their lord-vassal dynamic never gets fully spelled out.
Once the rebellion succeeds and Tusukuru becomes an independent nation, Oboro gets promoted to general and takes command of an elite unit of wandering swordsmen recruited from his old bandit days. He and Kurou clash constantly over strategy and tactics, which fans often note is one of the series' running gags. Off the battlefield, Oboro's got one pretty funny quirk: he absolutely despises vegetables and will gag if he eats even a small portion.
Combat-wise, Oboro dual-wields katanas and relies on his quick reflexes to stay effective in a fight. He's skilled enough, but honestly comes across as less experienced than most of the other major fighters in the cast.
