A Sanrio character created in the 1970s, she appears alongside My Melody in the 2005 anime Onegai My Melody and its sequels.
She's a sheep with pink wool and My Melody's second-closest animal friend—only Flat ranks higher. What sets her apart from My Melody's other animal companions is that she communicates through bleating rather than human speech. Despite this limitation, she's actually a talented poet and shares that creative streak with her human friend Miki. She's also skilled at playing keyboards.
Originally known as Hitsuji-san (Lamb-san), she got her current name, Piano-chan, in 2005 after readers of the Japan-exclusive Sanrio magazine Strawberry News voted on it.
